Dianchi Lake A plateau lake, best from the Haigeng shore or the Western Hills above it. There is no ticket to stand by the water. Black-headed gulls arrive in winter and are not a reason to rearrange a summer trip.
Natural scenery 自然风景
This is the city’s open water. It is not a swimming plan. The path is the visit.
In winter the gulls are the scene, and people feed them. In summer it is sky, wind, and a long view of the hills.
Getting there
Metro or a taxi to Haigeng Park. The lake is long. Do not expect to walk from Green Lake to a sunset here without a ride.
Staying nearby
Sleep at Green Lake or another central neighborhood. The lake shore is windy and thin on dinner. Come for the hour, then go back.

Free shore
How to get in The public shore and Haigeng Park do not need a reservation. Boat rides, when running, are a window at a dock. Ask the route. The Western Hills cableway and Dragon Gate are a different ticket on a different page.
