Nanjing · 明孝陵

Ming Xiaoling

Stone elephants, a cedar path, and the tomb of the Hongwu Emperor. It is a slower, older visit than the blue roof up the hill.

Historic sites 历史古迹

The stone animals are the part people remember, more than the mound. Walk them. Do not climb on them.

Pair it with the mausoleum only if the reservations and the shuttle agree. Otherwise it is its own half day.

Getting there

Same mountain as the mausoleum. The walk between them is longer than it looks on a simplified map. Use the scenic shuttle if your ticket or the driver offers the stop. Do not miss the last shuttle down.

Staying nearby

City hotel. The cedar road is the point of being here, and then you leave. Lunch on the mountain is functional.
