St Michael’s Cathedral

A German-era cathedral on a rise, visible down the old streets. You can see the exterior for nothing. The interior, when open to visitors, is a modest ticket and a quiet room.

Combine it with the pier and a beer, not with Laoshan.

In the old town, a walk from Zhanqiao and from Zhongshan Road. This is the in-town historic stop.

Old town, so the spires are part of finding your way home. No need for a hotel that sells the view of the door.
