Xiamen Botanical Garden

The green half day: shaded walks, a lot of labeled plants, and enough hill to feel it. Nature in a managed garden, not a hike into the wild.

Nature, cultivated. The rainforest house is the part that feels least like a city park.

Skip it if you only have two days and Gulangyu is still ahead. It is the extra day, and a good one.

Getting there

On the main island, a taxi or bus. Not a walk from Gulangyu. A morning here and a temple nearby is a fair pairing.

Main island. There is no reason to sleep at the garden. Go back down for seafood you can ask questions about.
