Xiamen
Xiamen · 中山路
Zhongshan Road A covered commercial street of snacks, old shopfronts, and the city’s ordinary night. This is where you eat sha-cha noodles. There is nothing to reserve and no need for a guide.
Cultural landscapes 人文风光
Cultural, a lived shopping street. It is not a monument. The monuments are the fortress, the temple, and Gulangyu.
Eat early. The best noodle shops have a rhythm, and the late version is for people who missed it.
Getting there
Central and walkable. This is the neighborhood, not a destination across town.
Staying nearby
The right place to sleep if you want dinner outside the door. Pick a room off the arcade so the night market ends at a reasonable hour.
Back to Xiamen
Free, just walk
How to get in No ticket. Food stalls have prices. A menu or a board is the one to use. A wave toward a seat without a price is how a bill surprises you. The ferry piers are a walk from here. Check which pier your Gulangyu ticket named.
