Longji Rice Terraces

Ping’an and Jinkeng are different valleys, different trailheads, and often different tickets. You go for the walks between wooden villages. The postcard is a viewpoint you still have to climb to.

Cultural landscapes 人文风光Hiking and trails 徒步越野

This is a cultural landscape that people still farm, and a hike. Stay on the stone paths. Walking through a planted terrace to improve a photograph is how you ruin someone’s crop.

Ping’an is the shorter walk. Jinkeng and Dazhai are more of a hike. Pick one valley and do it properly.

Getting there

A bus from Guilin toward Longsheng, then a local ride to the trailhead you chose. It is too far to add to a Li River morning. The walk from the road to the upper village is the visit, with luggage if you are sleeping there.

Staying nearby

A wooden guesthouse in Ping’an or Dazhai is the reason to stay, because sunrise is the point and the road back is long. Otherwise treat it as a long day from Guilin, not from Yangshuo.
