Lingyin Temple

Peaks, carved rock, and a large working temple. People are worshipping. The road up is also where unofficial tickets appear. Use the temple’s own channel.

Historic sites 历史古迹

Go early. Incense and tour groups fill the courtyards by late morning. The carvings in the rock on the way in are as much the sight as the main hall.

This is a historic religious site. It is not a hike, even though the approach is uphill.

Getting there

A bus or taxi west from the lake, then the path through the peaks. It is not a lakeside walk. Allow a half day and a return that is not five minutes before closing.

Staying nearby

Sleep by the lake, not on the mountain road. The temple neighborhood is restaurants and parking. The morning visit is a ride, then you are done with this side of the city.
