A temporary city of ice and colored light, usually from late December into February. It is not a historic site and not a landscape. It is a seasonal public artwork, and it is the reason many people fly here. Outside those weeks, this page does not apply.
Cultural, in the narrow sense of a made seasonal spectacle. The page says so because the other tags would be false.
Phones die in the cold. A spare battery in an inner pocket is the practical note.
Getting there
On the river side of the city, a taxi or a shuttle in the evening. The queue at the gate is part of the cold. Build it in.
Staying nearby
Central Street, and take a cab. A hotel next to the park is isolated the rest of the week. Warm the room before you leave so you have somewhere to thaw.
