Sun Island Willows, paths, and the river. In summer it is a park. In winter a snow-sculpture expo takes over part of it and has its own ticket. The island and the expo are not the same product.

Nature: a river park. The winter sculptures are an event on top of it, not the land.
Summer is green and ordinary and perfectly worth a walk. You do not have to come in January.
Getting there
Across the Songhua from the center, by bridge, taxi, or bus. In winter a taxi is the sane choice. The ice world is nearby and still a different gate.
Staying nearby
Central Harbin. The island is a half day. Lodging there is unnecessary unless you are visiting at opening in deep winter.

Park shore, paid gardens
How to get in Walking the public park can be free. Named gardens and the winter snow expo charge. Read the gate you are standing at. The snow expo is seasonal, like the ice world, and smaller. Book it in winter if it is the reason. Ignore it in July. Do not walk onto river ice because other people are. The park paths are the route.
