Emerald Valley Green pools in a forested cut, an easier walk than Huangshan and a useful day when the summit is closed or your legs are finished. It is scenery, not a trek.

Go when the mountain is in cloud and you still want water and rock. It is a kinder landscape.
Nature only. The trail is a scenic path, which is why it is not tagged as a hike beside Huangshan’s steps.
Getting there
A taxi from Tangkou or Tunxi. Confirm the driver will wait or that a return car exists. Do not strand yourself at a small gate at dusk.
Staying nearby
Tangkou or Tunxi. The valley is a half day. There is no summit and no reason to sleep there.

How to get in Buy at the gate or the valley’s account. It is rarely as contested as the mountain. The path follows the water. It can be wet. Shoes with a grip are still the right shoes. It does not get you onto Huangshan. Different gate, different ticket.
