A Huizhou village arranged around water, famous enough that the lanes fill by mid-morning. The architecture is the monument. People still live in some of the houses. You are in their street.
The moon pond and the lanes south of it are the composition. Do not block a doorway for it.
Historic, not a hike. The paths are stone streets. Stay out of planted fields and unlocked rooms that are homes.
Getting there
A bus or taxi from Tunxi, under an hour and a half depending on the day. It is a village day, not a side trip from the summit.
Staying nearby
A guesthouse inside the village lets you walk before the buses. It can be cold and simple. Tunxi is the easier night if you want a normal dinner and a morning bus.
