The promenade is walkable from Nanjing Road and from the old town, and both of those walks are more crowded than the Bund itself. Eat somewhere else. The kitchens facing the water are tired.
The metro is the way there and the way home. Taxis along the promenade at photo hour are a negotiation with traffic, not a plan.
