Some trails already have a page in this guide. Others are classics that do not have a city page yet. Two operators sell a large share of the guided trips. A foreign passport is a question you ask before you pay.

徒步中国 · 徒步帮
Hiking China
Domestic site and a WeChat mini program
徒步中国 is the brand, and 徒步帮 is the company that runs it. The public account started in 2014. The domestic site lists departures, and booking happens in the WeChat mini program 徒步帮旅行. The about page names an international desk for people asking about routes from outside the usual customer.
That desk is the right place to ask whether the departure you want takes a foreign passport. Do not treat a listed price as a yes.
The large domestic outdoor club. The hiking shelf is 游侠风. The phone printed on the site is 400-670-6300. The classic-hike index is the page to start from, then the individual trip.
Read the passport line on that trip. Youxiake’s own pages for the Wusun ancient road and for Kalajun say Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents, and foreign passports, cannot register. The Kulagangri page says mainland ID cards only. Another trip may read differently. If the line is missing, ask in the chat before you pay. The trailhead is a bad place to learn it.
These are the sight pages tagged as a trail. Mutianyu, Huangshan, the Longji terraces, Laoshan, and Tiger Leaping Gorge are the walks. Zhangjiajie’s national park is mostly built paths and stairs, which is why a cable car is not the same thing as a trek. Open the page before you pack poles.
Worth knowing, and not yet a city in this guide. Both operators above sell versions of them. The passport question comes first.
武功山
Wugong Mountain
Jiangxi, between Pingxiang and the meadows
High grass, a long ridge, and one of the hikes Chinese walkers treat as a standard. It is a mountain trip, with weather and a hut, not a city afternoon. No city page here yet.
A stone path through villages, usually a weekend rather than an expedition. It sits near Huangshan without being the mountain. Huangshan is the city page. The trail is the extra day, if the operator will take the passport.
A village walk under Meili, sold constantly, and sitting in a prefecture where the rule for a foreign visitor changes. Ask the operator, and read the local notice, before you buy a flight toward Shangri-La. Anything that crosses into the Tibet Autonomous Region uses the permit rule, not this paragraph.
